jubilee weekend

Hello! It has been quite some time since the last post but I hope you'll like this one :-)
Last week, we celebrated SG50 !!! If you don't know, Singapore is 50 this year so they decided to make the celebration big ... which also means a 4-day-long weekend for all of us.

August 7th
We went to HortPark (ok actually we only entered for a toilet break), or rather we walked the park trail connected to Henderson Waves.

Alkaff Mansion

Residences - Old colonial bungalows & the modern Interlace

Afterwards, I visited Botanic Gardens with Huan bubz! There was a carnival (FOOD !!!), performances by various musicians/bands and dancers and free admission for the National Orchid Garden for SG50 celebrations and the fact that it is now a UNESCO World Heritage site :-)
This patriotic little one who was singing 'One Singapore' :')

National Orchid Garden
Distinctly remember this as the orchid that was named after Margaret Thatcher -
Dendrobium Margaret Thatcher

Churros from the carnival! It was not bad haha

Many stores weren't operating due to the rain + it was all wet so there wasn't a lot of people :-(

Symphony Lake Amphitheatre
Adorable member of the audience !!!

Before the performance begun, there were two Korean boys who were running along a trail of puddles -
they were so full of youth and energy
Rainy days & wet splashes of joy; there is so much innocence in this world.
Can we choose to stay this way forever?

... Just walk beside me and be my friend :-)

The performance begins ...
And Lee Hsien Loong shows up!
He gave a speech about the history of Botanic Gardens its UNESCO world heritage site title.
(Ok honestly Huan and I were quite shocked and amazed (??) to see him HAHA)

Performance by local band 53A!
(they were very good although I never heard of them before)
(thank you to Huan for lending me your telephoto!!!)

We had to leave afterwards because it was going to rain and we didn't have picnic mats (the audience behind us were not happy that we were blocking their view)

Thank you for this adventure Huan bubz !! Looking forward to so many more with you :}

August 8th
We visited the Marina Barrage to watch a special performance put up by the RSAF Black Knights. Probably the closest I've ever gotten to those planes!! They are always so far up in the sky during National Day Parades.

The waiting
Hand in hand

Probably my favourite photo of children!
Happiness can be the simple joy of chasing bubbles :-)

Little Liverpudlian! (just like my sister)

And of course the RSAF Black Knights
Love it they were so close to us!

Was pretty satisfied with these shots because you can actually see the details of the F-16s!

We didn't do anything for National Day haha just watched the parade at home cause we didn't get tickets :-( but my sister watched the rehearsal sigh it looked good

That's about it for this post! Hope you liked this :-) See you in the next post xx  >>>
