San Francisco in 7 days

Hello! Been procrastinating for the past week because transferring approximately 2600 photos from one's camera to hard disk is no easy feat – I have yet to completely transfer all the photos – but I will be splitting up our three weeks long trip to the US into 2/3 posts so here is a summary of our week in San Francisco!

old but gold

The end of year holiday calls for more photography trips so here's one that I went on yesterday with Yengho and Leepoop! Singapore is just tiny so our planning for so-called "trips" really just end with us going to someone's home to eat / watch tv / eat some more HAHAHA
Anyway yesterday we decided to explore places with cool architecture and ended up with a list consisting of People's Park Complex, Rochor Centre and the maze at Marina Square!

Our first stop was the People's Park Complex, which basically is this super tall yellow building in Chinatown. To get there, exit Chinatown MRT via Exit C, then keep taking escalators and stairs up till you reach the roof.
Flexibility A1 HAHAHA
tq yengz for this photo it is truly very nice

The trick is to find big puddles of water to make photos interesting
(we basically copied this idea off all dem popular instagrammers lmao)

picnicking at marina barrage

A little late but I really enjoyed this little trip despite the super bad sunburns I suffered (esp the one on my parting since I decided to have a centre parting that day HAHAHA)

On the last day of our school's marking holiday (the day before doomsday aka the day we received our EOY results), we decided to (surprise) celebrate Tangjia's birthday! We got up a bit earlier and went to Bugis to get balloons and picnic supplies while Jia Wen was making her way there, then made our way to the Barrage to set it all up.

Us waiting for gudetangma to come because she walked towards ArtScience Museum thinking it was the Barrage then realised and took a cab to Marina Boulevard (bc the cab uncle didn't know what Marina Barrage was) HAHAHA this was all super funny

The Queen arrives !!!
SURPRISE SUCCESS HAHAHA

Faith and her apple juice

Y'know the obligatory nice shots

Then cue fake laughing #totallycandid

In Yvette's words, "We love to act" HAHAHA

So while we were on our picnic shopping spree in the morning, we picked up some $1.50 petals because we thought it'd be a good photo prop
And it definitely was but I swear we picked those petals off the ground more than 20x because we are obedient and responsible citizens and we do not litter

We took at least 3 tries per person to get the shot right LOL thankfully there weren't a lot of people at the Barrage otherwise gg.com to our reputations (like we even have any to uphold in the first place)
(condolences to Keshia bc we tried about more than 5x but couldn't get a good shot with her and the petals)

Fav shots of the day!
#acting101

Queen of the day HAHAHA

Hope y'all enjoy the shots from this post! Ended up with red, sunburnt faces (and hairlines for me) but it was a nice picnic and I really liked the shots that came out of it.
Cheers to $1.50 Cold Storage petals!

再见,南中

NYGH B16 毕业了! 4 years of laughter and foolishness flew by just like that, and here we are, ready to close this chapter of our lives and move on to the next one - but as brave as we are, I think none of us are really ready! Nanyang has been family for the past 4 years, and the feeling of home is always here - the warmth of open arms and the comfort of familiarity.

I still remember back in 2012 when I went for Nanyang's Open House - I think it was the first time I was so sure about a decision. I knew I wanted to spend my next 4 years in Nanyang and I was so bent on getting in - I remember taking out the NY newsletter from Open House almost every week for motivation (I wonder where I found the time to do so HAHAHAH) This memory doesn't feel like such a long time ago omg I just really don't get how 4 years could past by that quickly sigh

Looking back now, I realised that I've never regretted making this decision, no matter how tough life was at times, even on the days we were burdened with 1378362 quizzes and group projects
Anyway, our last day of school was filled with tears and tears and more tears. I think everyone was anticipating the moment《毕业照》played because that song just gets everyone every time HAHAHA
My main HOmie for the past 4 years (and many more to come !!!)

THANK YOU to these 4 bbys who made the past 2 years in NY bearable

geylang serai hari raya bazaar

Hello! This post comes pretty late considered Hari Raya ended quite a while ago but! I shall still post about our visit anyway because I really enjoyed it + the photos came out really nice.
A few weeks ago, we visited the annual Geylang Serai Hari Raya Bazaar because we heard good reviews about the food and wanted to see all the interesting things being sold there -
Our first stop was the Ice Burnz drinks store where we all bought Thai iced milk tea
(we were super thirsty + it was hot hot hot out)
Leepoop and me and the story of my disastrous poofy bangs
(I've since decided to rid myself of the bangs HAHAHA can't seem to pull it off)

Jaclyn + Cynthia + their cup of tea

Jits and I actually wanted to share and try out the Kinder Bueno milkshake but it was kind of expensive and probably wouldn't be enough to quench our thirst so we didn't buy it in the end :-( Maybe next time! Nonetheless, our Thai iced milk tea was an A++++ and super worth the money (it was $3 I think)

We walked around quite a bit and realised that many of the stalls were closed because it was late afternoon and the bazaar really only came to life during the evening/night so :-(

Stopped by the squid store since Leepoop and Yengho wanted to try + it was one of the few stores open

Tried out the ice rollies (these can be found literally everywhere in the bazaar) !!!
Banana + Strawberry flavoured goodness!
I think it was priced at around $5 - definitely going to eat this again

Afterwards Leepoop, Yengho + her parents and I visited Momolato for more ice cream !!!

We spent a loooooong time trying to find it but it was worth the walking

Paddlepop pudding!
Didn't try it but the colours are just appeasing to the eye LOL

Little one getting henna done!
I actually wanted to try too but it was in the middle of a school week so no :-(

I really enjoyed exploring the bazaar (I wished I'd taken more photos!) - the colour and culture of it all :-) Definitely visiting this place again next year!
Thought of trying out the Korean spicy yoghurt (basically Korean spicy sauce on yoghurt) but we didn't have the guts ??? like we were scared we wouldn't like it and end up wasting it so we didn't buy it in the end :-( This is definitely on my list of Things-to-try-next-year at the Hari Raya Bazaar (along with the spiral potato on a stick, cheese takoyaki and so many other things)
Till next time! xx
